Finker Wellness, in Bellmore, promotes wellness naturally, one neighbor at a time
Dr. Jillian Finker has spent nearly two decades doing what she loves to do: watching her neighbors get their lives back.
“That’s what makes me most excited about my work,” she says. “Seeing my patients becoming active again, playing with their grandkids, joining the local softball team, finding work that’s more rewarding. Having the strength to follow their dreams.”
Finker is a naturopathic doctor, which means that she uses natural therapeutics and treatments to address the underlying cause of symptoms. That’s where true healing happens, she says.
Her practice, Finker Wellness, in Bellmore, Long Island, offers individualized treatment plans combining various modalities, such as botanical medicine, supplements, homeopathy, nutritional medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as counseling and stress management.
“The treatments we use gently guide the body back to health,” she says. “Even when we put patients through detoxes or cleanses, we do it in a way so that they don’t feel worse before they get better or have to miss a day of work or fun in their lives. Basically, we work on healing the body naturally, without invasive treatments, because we are getting to the root cause of the issue.”
Finker Wellness treats a variety of common conditions, such as asthma, anxiety, depression, diabetes, IBS/IBD, headaches, menopause symptoms, PMS, hormonal imbalances and fatigue.
“My staff and I have almost 20 years of experience helping patients get better in a gentle manner, supported with scientific knowledge and kindness,” she says. “Our mission is to help patients learn how to optimize their health and then stay healthy well into their golden years. I’m so grateful to have all of this experience and knowledge, so I can truly guide patients onto their path of healing.”
When Finker and her staff help a patient heal, they consider it a win for the whole community, she says.
“We are looking to keep our community healthy, with good quality of life, in the short and long term—to have our patients feel well again so they can take care of their families, work, engage in hobbies, and volunteer to help out in their communities,” she explains.
Given her commitment to personalized treatment, Finker uses large corporations with poor customer service as examples of how not to treat people.
“I would love to see corporations function in a healthier capacity,” she says. “I would rather not waste my time, or have my patients waste their time, dealing with the incompetence of some of these corporations. My staff and I strive to make sure patients have the opposite experience at our office, with individualized care and concern. I am fortunate to have really wonderful staff and amazing patients.”
She’s also quick to remind patients that healing is within their reach. “There’s always hope,” she says. “The possibilities are endless.”
