Human tooth enamel, the protective outer layer of teeth, lacks the ability to repair itself primarily due to its unique structure and composition. Enamel is a highly mineralized tissue composed mainly of hydroxyapatite crystals, providing it with exceptional hardness. Additionally, once enamel is damaged, the lost minerals cannot be effectively replenished.
