Free Online Laughter Yoga

The United Nations General Assembly recently designated June 11 as the world’s first-ever International Day of Play. In honor of this momentous occasion, Erin Lehn, certified Laughter Yoga Leader and founder of Joy Warrior Studios, will host two free online laughter yoga classes. “Come laugh with me while we rekindle our relationship with our inner child on this day dedicated to play,” says Lehn, also the managing editor of Natural Awakenings NYC/Long Island editions. “Laughter yoga combines laughter exercises with deep breathing techniques—hence the name laughter yoga.”

Lehn believes that children and adults should make play a top priority. “Somewhere along the way many adults lose their connection to childlike wonder, silliness and the sheer joy of being alive. I’d like to change all of that,” says this purveyor of play who affirms there’s a lot of truth in the age-old adage that laughter is the best medicine. “Laughter is so nourishing for our bodies, minds and spirit. Countless studies prove that laughter yoga exercises have numerous beneficial health benefits like boosting the immune system, reducing stress, increasing happy hormones, and more.” 

Both classes will be held on Zoom and include vocal warm-up exercises, light movement and laughter yoga exercises—all that is needed from participants is a willingness to have fun. “If you would like an excuse to get silly with others in a group setting, please come laugh and play with me!” adds Lehn.
