After six years of renovation and upgrades to its infrastructure, Eastover Estate and Retreat—a 600-acre sanctuary in the cultural hub of the Berkshires—has opened as a residential holistic retreat center.

Minutes from Tanglewood, Kripalu and many other cultural venues, Eastover features a sun-drenched café, juice bar, library, porch and terrace, as well as meeting rooms and both rustic and luxury bedrooms.

“Eastover is an ideal location for teachers, groups, organizations and companies seeking retreat and training,” says founder Yingxing Wang. “The estate is dedicated to facilitate retreat and training groups, and so it has spacious program studio facilities, including a commercial kitchens for cooking classes. It was also designed with a wide range of overnight accommodations to fit everyone’s budget, from rustic to contemporary to luxurious.”

Eastover is unaffiliated with any specific spiritual tradition, Wang says. “The center’s eclectic, open-hearted receptivity aims to support the continuing emergence of holistic and ecological ideas capable of renewing our culture and leading the way to a sustainable planet,” she says.

Within walking distance of the mansion is the newly renovated, multipurpose entertainment venue known as Tally Ho, which for decades has been an iconic gathering place for people from the Berkshires and beyond. With more than 9,000 square feet suitable for gatherings, Wang says, Tally Ho offers the largest indoor space in Berkshire County.

Wang likes to refer to Eastover as “six hundred acres of silence.” Cradled by the Houstonic River and October Mountain, the grounds are a mix of lawns, courtyards, meadows, gardens, forests, woodland trails and panoramic views of Mount Greylock. “The site creates a sense of expansiveness and a feeling of serenity where people can meet outside the bustle of everyday life,” she says.
