Eastover Events Turn Reflective for Fall
As the holistic conferences and yoga festivities of summer end, Eastover Estate and Eco-Village, a 600-acre holistic retreat center in the Berkshires, is preparing for the reflective quality of fall. From about the time of the solstice onward, Eastover will delve into a mode of spiritual contemplation and mindfulness meant, in part, for “deepening the journey,” in the words of Sharon Salzberg, renowned spiritual leader and New York Times bestselling author. Salzberg and Janice Marturano, executive director of the Institute for Mindful Leadership, will be at Eastover October 4 to 7, teaching a workshop for experienced meditation practitioners. Together they will look at Leading with Excellence—working with the challenges and moral uncertainties of a divided society while connecting to a bigger picture that allows for joy and considers, with skill and compassion, the isolation of leadership. In his Five-Day Fall Retreat, October 14 to 18, Grandmaster William C.C. Chen, one of the most influential internal martial artists of his generation, will offer experienced practitioners a level of refinement to their tai chi chuan form. “From his vast experience, he will share how a disciplined and refined practice can bring about internal peace, alignment and overall well-being,” says Eastover cofounder Yingxing Wang. Also starting on October 14, Qigong Master Junfeng Li will lead a 36-day Sheng Zhen Meditation and Healing of the Heart Retreat for spiritual seekers. “Sheng Zhen philosophy and qi cultivation will be thoroughly studied as students discover Sheng Zhen as a source of inspiration, creativity and a conduit to universal oneness,” Wang says. “Intermittent fasting techniques, healing sounds and various meditations will be taught and practiced.” For information about these or other events, visit Eastover.com.
