Art of Dying Courses at The Open Center
The Art of Dying Institute offers continuous programming and certification courses through The Open Center to advance holistic approaches to end-of-life issues. The overarching goals of this partnership include finding healthy and transformative ways to work with the dying, preparing families for death and lessening their fear of it, and helping people use awareness of mortality to live fuller lives.
This month, the Art of Dying Institute will offer three online workshops through The Open Center:
Cultivating the Doula Heart, set for 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. November 7, will teach the practical approaches and techniques for supporting people more confidently through times of intensity, including death, birth, and grief.
After-Death Care and Home Funerals, set for 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. November 14, unpacks the role of “death midwife” from the final breath through the three-day home vigil to final disposition. This workshop is open to professional and non-professional end-of-life caregivers, and anyone wishing to care for their loved one naturally, at home, according to their personal, religious and cultural traditions.
Anxiety, The Missing Stage of Grief, is set for 7 to 9 p.m. November 16. This webinar will explore the connection between grief and anxiety and teach strategies for healing anxiety caused by loss.
Located in the heart of New York City, The Open Center is the longest-running urban holistic center for personal growth and spiritual practice. It presents programs that bring a holistic, ecological, and spiritual worldview into the contemporary world.
