Natural Relief for Eczema and Psoriasis
By Dr. David Pollack
Eczema and psoriasis can be more than just irritating—they can be life-disrupting. Those dealing with either condition often struggle with constant itching, scratching, bleeding, scarring and even shame. These chronic autoimmune skin disorders affect quality of life on every level.
In more than 16 years of practice, I’ve helped countless patients address these painful conditions—ranging from mild to truly severe. While eczema and psoriasis differ in appearance and pattern, the underlying causes are remarkably similar. Both involve autoimmune responses that trigger widespread inflammation and ultimately damage the skin. This leads to cracking, flaking, and in advanced cases, painful bleeding.
Thankfully, these conditions often respond well to a natural, holistic approach. I’ve guided many patients—each with their own story and struggle—back to healthy, clear skin.
One young patient came to me with skin so cracked that the tissue underneath was visible. Another, a 12-year-old girl with severe eczema and multiple allergies, had participated in pharmaceutical clinical trials before finding relief through our work together. Within a few months, her symptoms had reduced dramatically—from full-body eczema to just a few small spots near her elbows.
One recent case that stays with me is a new father who came to me because his eczema made it painful to bathe his newborn—a bonding ritual that should have been joyful, not distressing. He wore lotion-filled gloves to bed each night to prevent bleeding and irritation. After a natural, customized treatment plan, his hands healed so well he was once again able to embrace fatherhood without fear.
What do these stories have in common? Each healing journey started with understanding where the body was struggling. For many, digestive issues play a key role—since over 70 percent of the immune system resides in the gut, compromised digestion often fuels inflammation.
Others present with poor detoxification. If the liver, kidneys or lymphatic system aren’t functioning optimally, the body may push toxins out through the skin, triggering eczema or psoriasis. Hormonal imbalances, such as thyroid dysfunction or low cortisol from adrenal fatigue, are also common contributors.
Whatever the root cause, my job is to uncover it—and guide the body back into balance. Healing doesn’t always require harsh medications. With the right support, the body often knows exactly what to do.
There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a patient reclaim their confidence, comfort and joy—and proudly return to life, unafraid to be seen.
