Sober Breakfast Raves—N.Y.’s Latest Fitness Craze
Imagine discoing down just after sunrise decked out in your best rave garb while sipping java and juice concoctions sans vodka. That’s what trendy New Yorkers are doing in Brooklyn’s hip Williamsburg neighborhood at a gallery space called Kinfolk 94 before heading into work. That’s right, they are choosing to rave their way into the day by what is being referred to as “braving.” These “bravers” are proving that you don’t need drugs or alcohol to have a good time. Braving combines all the fun of raving with a focus on being healthy. They are getting in a good workout, consuming nutritional juices, and enjoying the festive atmosphere and camaraderie.
Attendees of this morning party, known as “Morning Gloryville”—which started in London last year and has been spreading to cities worldwide—are given leis upon entry and massages from employees called "Wake Up Angels." There's an alcohol-free bar with only coffee and nutritional juices (provided by "Juice Witches"), and there are "motivational dancers" that help get the party started.
