Hello June!
When June hits, summer has begun, even though it’s not officially here yet. June signifies kids home for the summer and vacation planning. For some, the stress of such planning goes against what summer is really about: de-stressing. The angst is real.
Planning a trip for everyone’s tastes is one matter. There are so many options: sitting by a beach, adventure hikes, urban or rural, international or domestic… but the key takeaway is to remember that while planning is necessary, planning to do absolutely nothing is also essential. Incorporate time to chill, with no obligations. Both body and mind need this downtime without feeling hurried. Once you incorporate what you can, you’ll find the balance that everyone seeks.
Time outside is one of summer’s best gifts, and in order to keep it carefree and uninterrupted on adventure walks through the forest, take a peek at our cover story, “New Hope for Lyme Disease.” Dr. Howard Robins provides important tips on protecting ourselves from ticks and what to look for if we are bit by one or start having Lyme disease symptoms. He also explains that there is hope with the addition of Ozone Therapy, which “helps the immune system fight off the disease,” when the standard treatments are not enough. Prevention and vigilance are key to enjoying a summer free of issues.
And we can’t forget about Dad: the man, the myth, the legend. In our house, Michael is the rock, putting family first without complaint. He prioritizes us over all else. While we don’t need a special holiday to tell him how much we love and appreciate him, it’s nice to be able to carve out one day a year that focuses exclusively on him. Other than his birthday, we love to give him his due. Whether it’s taking him out to dinner, giving him heartfelt cards or taking a family fun trip together on a beach or through the woods, his day kicks off summer.
So go ahead and welcome in June, it doesn’t ask or expect too much from us, just that we notice its arrival, the acceleration of summer, the celebration of Dad and the quiet care that keeps interruptions at bay, just showing up and enjoying what’s ahead.
