Finding Our Rhythm
It’s not something we put much thought into—what a day entails. Sometimes we just move from one item on a list without a beat. But at some point, our bodies or minds will remind us—we wonder why we feel more tired than usual—that’s a sign to slow down and take a step back. Some days I feel overly energetic and think I can go all day, and on others the motivation is lacking; it’s on those days that a reset is in order.
This month’s issue centers on how we balance the drive that motivates us. Our Burnout and Reset feature emphasizes that slowing down does not mean falling behind. We highlight that intentional resetting is a crucial practice for sustainability in self-care, creativity and community. Resetting isn’t about stopping. It’s about recalibrating—finding your center again so you can move forward with clarity and purpose.
We were reminded of this balance at a gala hosted by Adelphi University. The event celebrated neurodivergent students whose talents and perspectives shine. The evening was more than inspirational. It reflected beauty and purity within each student. Their aspirations were simple. They wanted to be like everyone else—reliable, deserving, hardworking, loving, authentic human beings. These students showed us that “superpowers” often come from traits we once thought were different. Beneath it all, we share the same heartbeat. We all need to be seen, understood, and to belong. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as we watched these remarkable students reaffirm all that they can do. For parents and families in attendance, it offered hope. It was a quiet reassurance. Their children will be more than okay in this world.
As you read this issue, remember: true energy comes from both what drives and what restores us. Take a moment to reflect. Consider how you can create this balance in your life. Nurture your well-being. Protect your spark. Sustain your passion.
Always in health, Cyrece
