Tuning In: Sound, Strength & Superfoods
Dear readers,
As we age, physical changes become more noticeable. I’ve always been active—running track, cheerleading, dancing, teaching aerobics and kickboxing. While these activities benefited me over the years, listening to my body now prevents issues before they arise. Nutrition matters more than ever—who needs extra inflammation? And I’ve found that exercising my mind and exploring how sound can support well-being are powerful steps in the right direction. There are so many ways to feel good, and we’ve included a variety in this month’s issue.
In his article, “Organs Speak Through Pain,” Dr. Pollack writes, “I’ve been helping people uncover the hidden root causes of pain—and restore their health from the inside out.” Fatigue, tightness and tension aren’t always just discomfort—they can be your body’s way of asking for attention. Instead of only seeking relief, try to observe and understand these sensations. Healing begins when we learn to listen.
One way to respond is through mindful movement—workouts that combine breath, awareness, and intention. For example, Jordan Peschek, RN-BSN, recommends practices like tai chi and meditation. Other activities, when approached with a mindful attitude, can help us tune in rather than zone out. Transforming exercise from punishment into presence is a mindset shift. Michael’s daily meditation and yoga routine especially inspires me—his commitment genuinely sets a positive tone for his day.
We’re also highlighting the healing power of sound therapy—vibrations that bring the body back into harmony. Gongs, singing bowls, and other instruments create soundscapes that invite release, recalibration and deep rest. I haven’t tried them yet, but they’re high on my to-do list—their benefits are clear.
Of course, healing also starts with what we put into our bodies. That’s why we’re featuring Juice Plus+, a superfood-powered brand focused on plant-based nutrition. Their blends help bridge the nutritional gaps of modern life, supporting energy, immunity and long-term vitality. I’m excited to begin incorporating them into my daily routine.
Your body holds wisdom. It speaks—through pain, stillness and movement. Inspired by this, we hope this issue encourages you to slow down, listen deeply, and try at least one new healing practice for your mind and body. Let us know what you’ll explore!
Cheers to you on your journey to the three S’s!
