Natural Awakenings NYC & Long Island

In This Issue: March 2026

This month’s theme, Nourish and Flourish, feels especially meaningful to me. Having an autoimmune disorder makes me rethink much of what goes into my body, and trying always to move my body is very important. So often, we think of nourishment as simply what’s on our plates—but it’s also what we allow into our bodies through our thoughts and emotions. And to flourish goes way beyond how we’re doing at work or at home with family; it’s about feeling a deeper connection with what makes our bodies feel better, and putting the two together allows proper healing to take place. What we consistently feed our body and mind grows as nourishment, and making sure to move every day keeps us flourishing.

In this issue, we explore the powerful idea of using food as medicine. Anti-inflammatory and elimination diets are not about deprivation; they are about awareness. By choosing whole, balanced foods and paying attention to how our bodies respond, we can calm inflammation, restore gut health and create a stronger foundation for energy and clarity. Sometimes flourishing begins with something as simple—and profound—as changing what we eat and seeing how that makes our bodies feel.

Emotional nourishment is just as essential. For more than 25 years, Brett Cotter has helped people navigate and heal from various life stressors through his Stress Is Gone Method. Whether it’s through breathwork or guided emotional expression, his work reminds us that when emotional pain is acknowledged and met with compassion, the nervous system can “break free from the stress we see on the outside.”

Beginning March 27 at the Himalayan Institute, Cotter will lead a Women’s Self-Love Retreat designed to create space for that kind of renewal—through breathwork, movement, meditation and meaningful connection.

Putting physical and emotional nourishment together goes hand in hand; practicing both and integrating them into our lives can help us get to that safe, healing, feeling-good space.

Always in health, Cyrece
